Island paradise

Do you feel the need to recharge with sea, sun and sand? Mauritius is the perfect choice for a peaceful heavenly escape. This post throws us right back into the vacation spirit.

Nestled in the middle of the Indian Ocean, Mauritius is a beautiful island well known for its white sand beaches and turquoise lagoons. After landing in the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport, we drove through the island all the way to the south-western tip where the mountain of Le Morne proudly reigns. At its feet is where you can find the luxurious St. Regis Mauritius Resort where we spent 10 wonderful days.

After waking up in our beachfront suite, every morning began with breakfast by the pool. After that, a wide range of activities were offered by the hotel such as snorkelling, waterskiing, windsurfing and more.

The resort offers everything you could possibly need during your stay but we did eventually decide to go out and explore the rest of the island. We went to hit some balls on the pristine golf course of the Four Seasons Mauritius at Anahita where we also enjoyed a delicious cocktail as the sun set behind the palm trees. The next day we spent on a catamaran which took us to areas only accessible by water such as the breathtaking Île aux Cerfs. Another personal highlight of this trip was the horse ride on the beach – I can still hear the soft sound of the horse galloping in the sand. All in all, Mauritius has really earned its “must visit” status!
